LIFE WASTE: a biogas musical

LIFE WASTE: a biogas musical is a work in progress; a devised, collectively created song cycle that tells a story about energy systems, and the myriad social relationships that comprise them. It’s about the lives of organic farmers and backyard engineers, circular systems and the challenges and triumphs of sustainability, all told through the format of original punk-folk-rock songs.

This experimental production taps the talents of non professional musicians, farmers, students, artists, and carpenters; solar cells and biogas bladders; and a whole lot of recycled stuff. From these disparate materials we weave a kind of fairytale -though one grounded in real life- that shows how energy systems are fundamentally social systems. Along the way engaging with how energy production and distribution shape our sense of what is and  isn’t possible.
